Let me just tell you, getting 36 inch balloons into my best friends car was impossible. Literally, they wouldn't fit. So instead of waiting for someone to come with a bigger truck, we decided to drive 5 mph down the road to my house. I wish I had pictures because it was one of the funniest things we've ever done together. We got so many crazy looks from people and A LOT of laughs. You would think it would be somewhat easy to hold 2 giant balloons while the car is only going 5 mph but let me be the first to say it was so painful. Yes, painful. The car felt like it was going 100 mph and I felt like I was holding onto little razor blades. Never again will I do that, but its a funny story to tell.
Balloon Release
Sunday, January 12, 2014
I had researched so many options for our unity ceremony. I didn't want to do the candle, the duel sand, watering a tree, etc. Of course I was on Pinterest and I found a couple that did a balloon release ceremony. Usually, the whole audience gets a balloon and they all release it together, but I wanted something a little more intimate. I worked out the details of how the whole shin dig would go down right up until the morning of my wedding. It was a combination of me being lazy and just having no idea how to organize it. The whole concept of the balloon ceremony was to have 2 gigantic balloons symbolizing Ryan and I and our two separate lives. Then having our parents each have a card with self-written prayers for us on them and attaching the cards to the balloons. After, Ryan and I would tie the balloons together symbolizing joining in one heart and one life, and then sending those prayers to heaven by releasing the balloons.
