DIY: Mason Jar Lights

Sunday, January 12, 2014

I can swear that Mason jars are just about the cutest craft/decor you can have. I love using them to make solar jars. This is my absolute favorite thing to make right now, especially as winter is coming. It's actually extremely easy and you can go as creative or as simple as you want and they will turn out great.

Pretty much you just get a mason jar, a solar lawn stake (which are $.97 at Walmart), super glue, paint (if you want to paint them. I usually don't), and any decorations you need to cover the outside. That is, if you want of course.

Just pop off the top of the light and glue it on the cap of the jar. Make sure the solar panel is facing up and the light is inside the jar. annnnnnndd...voila! Your very own solar jar. Of course, you can decorate or paint it as you'd like, but it's as simple as that. Such a great decor piece and it makes a good gift too. I gave this to my husband's best friend's aunt, whom I love like my own, and she loved it! I'm going to make some more for my own house.

Finished product:

I went and added some lace paper and cut out hearts and flowers from an old book and glued them inside. I've also sprayed frost on some previous ones I did and they came out incredible!
