The Pups

Yesterday, Ryan and I finally made the decision to sign up one of our dogs, Baxter (black), for puppy classes. He's almost 1 so well over 'puppy', but he has the heart and goofiness of one for sure. See Baxter is the type of dog who likes chew the following

  • brand new pillows that I've handmade

  • shoes of ALL kinds

  • paper

  • string

  • wood furniture

  • hats

  • doors

  • crown molds

We'll be here for days if I go on. I've about had it. I used to open the door with anxiety because I knew something would be eaten or sprawled across the floor. Thankfully, my aunt just gave us a huge kennel and to my surprise, I actually think Bax enjoys his little space, most of the time anyways. Thank you Joy.

I was pushing Ryan to sign him up because I couldn't watch another thing go to chewin'. When we got there, I was a little skeptical because there was another dog and I wasn't sure if Bax would get the one-on-one time he needed. To my surprise, he was the best one in class (class of 2 that is) and he picked up really quick. He basically walked on a leash with the trainer several times and then practiced the commands, heel, sit, stay, & down. I felt like a proud mom because he did so well. Of course, as soon as we left Petco he forgot everything, but we've practiced at home and he seems to remember quite well. We pretty much fried his brain because at the end he was panting like crazy.

Our trainer Pam was awesome and I can tell she really just loves being with dogs. We told her about our other dog, Charlie (blonde), and she offered to train him with Bax so that the two could bond and be commanded together. Char will start next week and I pray that this goes well. We can't even walk the two together because they play and bite each other so much, so this will be interesting.

I just love dogs so much, I'm considering another but NOT until the little one is trained. Some people may call us dog hoarders, but they are so cute the Pineda's can't resist.

Some awe moments:
